The UK Sepsis Trust – OOH Ads

UK Sepsis Trust is a UK-wide charity founded in 2012 by NHS consultant Dr Ron Daniels, dedicated to ending preventable deaths from Sepsis and improving outcomes for survivors.

Through campaigns, clinical guidance, and a support-network of trained nurses and volunteers, they strive to make early diagnosis and responsible use of antibiotics standard practice – helping save lives and reduce long-term harm. Their work has contributed to an increase in survival from 70% in 2012 to 80% in 2019.

As part of a pro-bono brief, we created billboards and posters for a national awareness campaign. Through a series of ads, we designed and developed the “Just ask, could it be sepsis?” campaign to draw attention to the symptoms of the illness and encourage earlier recognition.

The aim of the campaign was to prompt people to use everyday downtime to watch a short five-minute video explaining the signs of sepsis and the dangers of the illness. Whether waiting in a queue, sitting on a train or even in the bathroom, the messaging encouraged people to take a moment to become “Sepsis Savvy.”

Additional billboards reinforced the message by highlighting key symptoms and prompting the public to ask the vital question: “Could it be sepsis?”
